For walkers, the SW Coast Path is right outside the Hotel. The most popular route is the 5 mile walk to Polperro; with lunch in one of the Village’s pubs always high on the agenda. You also have the choice of taking the local bus service in one direction to save your legs!
For travelling a little further afield without your car, you can take the scenic Looe Valley Line to Liskeard and change for a visit by train to Plymouth, Truro, St. Ives, Penzance & Falmouth.
In Plymouth, The Box (a fantastic free museum & gallery) and the National Marine Aquarium are world-class facilities – the Tate in St. Ives and the National Marium Museum Cornwall in Falmouth are all great options for a day out by rail too.
For rainy days, Bodmin Jail & the Eden Project (both under 45 mins away) are always firm favourites for day trips to – and for lovers of woodland walks, it is snow drop season in Cornwall, before the carpet of bluebells & daffodils arrive to herald spring’s arrival.
Closer to Looe, and winner of the Tourism Attraction of the Year in 2025, the Story Of Emily is just 25 mins away. The Victorian Rectory and the War Rooms, convey the store of pacifist & humanitarian ‘Emily Hobhouse’ and her time during the Anglo Boer War.
It may be out of season, but the winter months in Cornwall offer something special. The raw nature of the Cornish coast, the warmth of our local hospitality sector & an abundance of things to see, do & explore make it a great time of year to head to our magical County.
